Holy smokes!
I joined my elementary school Facebook group. Apparently there is "a reunion" planned *crickets*.
I happened upon a picture from the eighth grade yearbook. I gasped. Actually, I shrieked.
Nothing ever really goes away. You can throw away the pictures and the yearbooks, but mark me on this SOMEONE has a picture. That was a period in my life that I really tried to put behind me. The biggest reason is that I was an awkward, outsider.
I was able to locate myself on the page. Very quickly. I was the only brown face in a sea of non-brown faces. I appreciate what my parents' goals for me. No doubt I am sure that it helped me, but no way will I put my child(?) through that.
*crickets*
The picture was no bueno.
It was way before I learned the value in a good pair of eyebrow scissors and definitely a pre-braces period. Thank goodness it was before the glasses period. Then there was a picture of the "Computer Club". Guess who was front and center in that nerd crew? I was proud of my computer programming skillz.
The sad part is that my co-workers said, "You haven't changed one bit."
O__O
